CORFO, the Chilean Economic Development Agency, has been the primary organization within the Chilean Government responsible for promoting economic growth in Chile since 1939.
In 2000, CORFO launched a program designed to attract and facilitate technology-intensive foreign investments. Sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, this program has been operated in coordination with its Foreign Investment Committee. The main objective behind this effort is to position Chile as a biotechnology and service springboard for companies with investment projects that are aimed at Latin America and the world. This program supports the setup of operations for biotechnology and life sciences companies, clinical research initiatives and other high value technology projects including research, development and transfer of emerging technologies.
Over the last 15 years, Chilean entrepreneurs have been
researching and developing biotechnology products and
services. As a result Chile is becoming an attractive
venue for development and innovation.
CORFO takes pride in introducing the new and exciting
opportunities that are available in Chile within the emerging biotechnology and life science sector. This directory will help you become familiar with the Biotech Industry in Chile, its players and also will help you get a better understanding on how the Chilean Government encourages foreign R&D investment and its particular interest in promoting investments targeted at developing the pharmaceutical clinical trials sector.
CORFO invites you to do business with Chilean companies. Besides their highest levels of reliability and competitiveness and their highly skilled labor force, you will also find that Chile offers a very stable and safe environment for your business.
